Church of St. Peter and St. Paul – the town of Dobrinishte

The church was built in 1835. In 1926 a restoration works were performed and a church tower was built to the church.

The church is a three-nave pseudo-basilica, with a narthex and an open loft to the south. The altar screen with the iconostasis and its three doors is of particular value. The tiers of icons and the Beautiful Gates are decorated with openwork, finely gold-plated and partially coloured carving. The carving was performed by master carvers from the region of Debar. Of particular interest are also the 10 icons from the Sovereign tier (dating back to 1835 and the second half of XIX century). Some of the smaller icons were painted by respresentatives of the Bansko Art School. In 1867 a bishop’s throne and a pulpit were placed in the naos, and above the altar – ciborium with openwork carving.

At present, the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is an operating church.
